Army Ammunition Depot
Tri Rinse, Inc. conducted DEMIL operations at a U.S. Army Ammunition Depot. Services included providing labor, material, and equipment for the shredding of approximately 800,000 wooden ammunition boxes and 15,000 cubic yards of pallets, skids, open-end boxes and miscellaneous lumber.
Key Elements
- All ammunition boxes were opened and inspected to ensure the boxes were free from ammunition, explosives or other items of a dangerous nature.
- Quality assurance personnel were on-site for certification that boxes were free from all explosive hazards.
- Dangerous items were only inspected/handled by UXO Technician III or EODT personnel.
- Inspected and released units were processed through shredding equipment with a magnetic separator, thrown object restraint system and water spray system for dust control.
- Strapping and other recovered metal components were recycled through the DZHC Reutilization Yard.
- The resulting wood chips were collected and transported to designated locations for explosive-soils biocomposting.
