DESCRIPTION

PURPOSE OF POSITION:  The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring a team/production schedule meets or exceeds production requirements and goals.  Supervisor differs from operator in the level of skill.  The Supervisor trains and supervises operators working directly to complete industrial cleaning projects that involve power washing and cleaning of industrial equipment including above ground storage tanks, and other items.  The Supervisor is responsible for reporting safety issues, maintenance, quality, and completing production paperwork as well as working as part of the crew to ensure project completion.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Required to handle all pre job requirements ensuring that all equipment and supplies for the job are together prior to leaving for a project
  • Ensure equipment associated with production is properly shut down at end of day and set up properly before start of shift
  • Obtain weekly production plan from Division Manager with statement of work (SOW) and details of projects running at that time
  • Ensure team is briefed on scope of the project, production requirements, and aware of any safety risks related to project
  • Audit equipment to ensure proper tools and equipment are available and in correct location.
  • Ensure all required documentation associated with the truck and trailer is present in the vehicles before departure
  • Directly supervises tank cleaning crews
  • Responsible for ensuring all Health, Safety and Environmental regulations including Confined Space Entry are followed
  • Communicates with client including project scope, cost, quality parameters and schedule
  • Conduct daily safety meetings with work crew and document
  • Ensure job trailer and production vehicle are maintained in a neat and organized fashion
  • Prepare Confined Space Entry permits and ensure acceptable entry conditions
  • Update the production paperwork as the job progresses
  • Ensure all client contact is handled in a professional manner, including crew appearance and demeanor
  • Works with Maintenance Manager & Division Manager to ensure job truck, trailer and equipment are properly maintained and ready for use
  • Ensure all equipment is inspected prior to use and required documentation completed including; DOT Checks, Miles and Hours Reports for Maintenance
  • Travel as necessary to complete projects, typically 1 – 2 weeks in duration but sometimes longer
  • Communicate all safety, quality,  productivity, or maintenance  issues to Division Manager (report the exceptions)
  • Ensure production quotas are achieved; identify when production is slipping, and make recommendations for improvements
  • Ensure production area  is kept clean and organized
  • Coach and develop individuals on his/her team
  • Report/communicate all un-safe behavior.  Work with safety manager and Division Manager to ensure all reports are finished in a timely fashion with accurate information. (Near miss, spill, incidents, etc.)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Must have mechanical or maintenance experience
  • Past supervisory experience or equivalent
  • Must hold minimum Class B CDL
  • Good organizations skills
  • Safety conscious
  • Good recordkeeping and legible handwriting
  • Able to follow directions and maintain a production schedule
  • Able to direct crews in a constructive manner
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Leadership skills to motivate and Lead a TEAM and develop successor to his/her role

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, balancing, bending (bending at the waist, lifting above the waist and lifting below the waist), kneeling, reaching, grasping (use of both hands), squatting, manipulative finger movements with both hands, use of wrists (flexing or rotating with both wrists), use of both feet, use of arm above shoulder (needs both arms), use of arm below shoulder (needs both arms), work in dust, fumes, gases and chemicals, entering confined spaces, perform duties in all climates i.e. weather, extreme temperatures, heights, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., work in dust, fumes, gases and chemicals.

 

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

Walking, climbing, ascending or descending stairs, ramps, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms, stooping body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Safety glasses, steel-toe safety shoes, hardhat, hearing protection, respirator use, long sleeve shirt and pants, and task appropriate protective clothing and gloves when required

 

SENSORY ABILITIES:

General vision, hears, listens, and speaks clearly                      

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Moderate to extreme climate conditions, dust, chemical and gas fumes, confined spaces, work under pressure and stress, working rapidly
